Sony Ericsson C902 review
Sony Ericsson C902 is one of the
latest Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phones from it’s recently launched C series…
Engaged together with C702 this phone makes a good upgrade from K800 users for
e.g. A phone designed for users who want a good camera from their phone, fancy
design and also decent gaming and music experience. The phone is equipped with
5MP camera module which will always enable you take excellent pictures…

Design
and hardware:
-
Sony Ericsson haven’t released this
like phone before… The form factor is common for most of it’s phones, but the
camera lens cover is something different… It hides the camera inside the phone’s
body, making it fully protected and safe from scratches or other damage… It
also has good flash which enables you getting great pictures even at total
darkness…
-
The phone features fancy lens cover,
fastport and touch camera interface icons surrounding the display… Compared to
C702, the C902 display is smaller, but still a great one…

Some of the phone’s characteristics:
-
2G and 3G networks support
-
5 mega pixel camera with autofocus
and flash
-
265k display with 240 x 320 resolution
-
GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE Class 10, 3G
(supporting HSDPA), Bluetooth port, USB
-
SMS, MMS, Email client and instant
messaging
-
Java MIDP 2.0
-
FM Radio, TrackID Music recognition
-
Organizer, picture editor and etc…
User interface and some features:
-
Like most of the Sony Ericsson phones,
the C902 keeps the same well known user interface which seems to be pretty user
friendly… The menu icons and graphics are slightly changed, but that doesn’t
make a big difference compared to older platform Sony Ericsson phones… C902 has
the standard 12 icon menu which enables you easy navigation through the phone.
There are the Messaging app, the Entertainment menu, the Media Player (which
looks more like Media Center application) and the Settings menu where you can
configure the phone to work the way you like it.

The C902’s Messaging application:
-
C902 deals pretty good when it comes
to exchanging text and multimedia messages… Email client is not excluded from
the package. The Messaging app is the standard one which can be found in every
other SE phone. Perhaps, it is slightly improved and has some new features
added for e.g. backing up messages on memory stick and etc… Sending and reading
receives texts, mms and emails is very, very easy and enjoyable…

C902’s box of Entertainment and
Multimedia:
-
The phone features awesome Media
Player enabling you to watch videos, look your pictures taken with the camera
or simply listen to high quality music on the loudspeaker or the stereo headset
that comes with the phone… Media Player application is everything you need for
decent and reliable multimedia playback. Supporting an enormous amount of
formats it will never let you down…

-
The phone also offers good experience
with gaming… The keypad is pretty good for playing Java games which the phone
runs at great performance… It has good multitasking performance for a non smart
phone (feature phone) so it won’t be a problem listening to music, playing a
game and chatting at the same time.
-
Even supported pretty good, web
browsing may be a little problem with the phone… It display is a bit small so
it may not be that easy to navigate through the web sites… But after all, it
depends on the user of the phone. If you find it useful and get used to it, web
browsing would be pretty good too.

Camera interface:
-
The main purpose of this phone, the
camera. is hidden inside it’s body. It can be taken out by sliding the
mechanism… Opening it, launches the camera automatically so you can start
taking pictures pretty fast. Picture quality is pretty good (running latest
firmware may give you even better picture). It’s autofocus gives you extra
sharp pictures, and the built in flash will make the night shots look awesome.
-
Camera also has the touch buttons
around the screen which will easily grant you access to the most used camera
features (almost every feature you need to take a perfect shot). So, navigating
through the camera menu and searching for the desired option is not needed…

Other features and conclusion:
-
The phone also has many other great
options like the Organizer for e.g. It offers you decent alarm , timer,
stopwatch, calendar, notes and tasks applications which come very useful helping
you not to forgot important things during the whole day. It also features
decent file manager which can be found in the Menu. It will help you sort and
manage all files on the phone memory and the memory stick in the phone.
-
Phone connectivity is pretty good. It
offers 3G networks support, GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth connectivity to surf the
internet or simply connect to other devices for different purposes. You can
send/receive files, listen to high quality music using wireless stereo Bluetooth
headset or connect to the internet through Bluetooth connection – PAN (Personal
Area Network)…
-
In overall, the C902 is excellent
phone for it’s price, so if you are looking for a phone meant to entertain you,
offer you great multimedia experience and come handy wherever you need such
device, you can go for the C902, of course, if you don’t mind the smaller
display compared to C702. The difference between them is the C702’s bigger
display and it’s splash resistant features, but it has 3.2 MP camera, so the
choice is yours.
